Great Southern

On duty staff was very helpful when we had a luggage issue. Not impressed with room, for being refurbished, this room seem to have been missed. Probably would not stay there again.

We were staying there our last night in Ireland because we had an early flight the next day. We had to ask twice to have our toilet fixed because it wouldn't flush. The lady at the desk was not very friendly & acted like she didn't believe me. They finally moved us to the next room over & that tub/shower was rusted/moldy. The hallways smelled like an ashtray. The beds were old and the springs hurt our backs.

If you are using the airport then this hotel is ideal as it's withing walking distance of the terminal. There is a continental breakfast for those taking very early flights and a full breakfast after 7am. The amenities and overall decor is somewhat old fashioned but it's clean and everyone is friendly.

The Great Southern Hotel was very convenient to Shannon Airport. It enabled us to turn our rental car in the day before and not have to worry about driving to or going through returning the car the morning of our flight. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A nice touch were the monitors which kept you up to date on your flight status. The bar staff was great fun, guess where we ate dinner!We were able to enjoy a full breakfast before we walked to the terminal. It just made for a stress free departure from Ireland.

Great Southern was perfect for my stay. I am a student on my first trip to summer school in Galway. I was flying home on a very early flight Shannon - New York. I needed a room near the airport. The staff were friendly, most welcoming and helpful in making sure that I understood how to get to the airport in time for the flight and comfortable before the long trip. The room was comfortable and the restaurant excellent with affordable dinner 'specials' the evening before I flew. The morning breakfast buffet was perfect before a long day's travel.
