Hotel Royal-French Quarter

We arrived about 5;30pm - our room was on the third flr.- but they agreed to put on the ground flr the next dayl We enjoyed their courtesy and service The next four days were filled with perfect tours, it couldn't have been better

The hotel was great. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but for one small problem, the day staff. The night staff was great. They were cheerful and eager to help out for even the smallest problem. The day staff on the other hand ignored you. We asked the day to send up extra towels they didn't. We had to go to the night staff to get them. We asked the day staff for a wake up call. Never received it. Besides these inconvenience I enjoyed this hotel and will come back when I return to New Orleans.

Pros: the staff was very friendly and very helpful. The location was good and the room was clean and relatively quiet for the location. It was basic, but has what you need if you are going for the French Quarter. Cons: to get to our room, we had to go outside through an outdoor hallway, up and down multiple flights of stairs. It is a bit tedious and can be tough to find your room the first few times. We had to make about 6-8 turns both inside and outside, and had 7 small and bigger flights (50-60 stairs) of stairs to take to get to our room. There were also some sizable gaps under the doors, which got noisy when people came and went. Other than that, the bathroom was laid out kind of odd. It was usable, but you best be coordinated. A shower curtain (while not as nice looking), would be a functional upgrade from the glass panel door on our shower. I don't mean it to sound like a bad place, but there are a few inconveniences. I would stay there again if it was cheaper than near by competition.

The hotel staff was greatly helpful and informative. The location of the hotel couldn't have been any more convenient to all the most popular areas, while still being located on a very quiet and peaceful street. Not only is the outside of the hotel beautiful, but the inner courtyard and rooms are lovely. The hotel has so much character, and is quite romantic and rustic, while still pampering you! I will absolutely stay at only this hotel whenever I visit New Orleans now!

The room was clean and a good size, bed was a bit mushy; location was perfect for us, courtyard was very quaint. The bathroom was a major problem though. Shower door opened right into the faucet so you had to get wet turning it on, and water went all over the floor. The sink was so small that it was hard to wash in without getting water everywhere. My biggest problem was that they added a $10 charge per night (on top of $300 + ) to cover internet, long distance and a very sad little continental breakfast. When I questioned the arbitrary charge, the desk clerk said ' Know before you go'. This bothered me, as they could have tacked on $50 or more or whatever they wanted to, and we would have been forced to pay. It wasnt a lot of $ but the idea of it really annoyed me

We wanted to get away for a few days, on a budget, and our stay at the Hotel Royal was a lovely splurge. Stay here if you want to feel connected to the history and culture of the French Quarter.

My husband and I visited New Orlean's during my spring break from work which was the first week in April. The weather was fair but the hotel stay was great. The location was great in the middle of everything and walking distant to all the events and happening spots. We took the VIP tour which add to our great experience. The tour guide was a wealth of information and the staff at the hotel were so very hospitable. I would definately return and stay at the same hotel and I would recommend family and friends. I could go on and on about the stay, the cleanliness, the hospiatlity, the French quarter, and so forth but my suggestion would be to plan your next vacation to visit the french quarters adnd stay at Hotel Royal!

This hotel is in a great location and all staff are very friendly and helpful. The WIFI is weak because of the old concrete building, not really their fault, but it actually works great in the bathroom and in the courtyard. Hotel is clean but ice machine is broken. Hotel also puts another $150.00 hold on your credit card without your permission for any pending damages that is later released. This inconvenienced me. They also charge another $10.95 for breakfast and wifi.
