California Hotel and Casino

On arriving to room the ac did not work, but was services and worked fine. In the morning water was cold, did not complain about this we just checked out.

It was very economical and location was convenient for the price! While checking in the hotel, we had a VERY rude and unprofessional woman who refused to honor our reservation price.....after speaking to her manager...the issue was resolved. But it did taint my feeling about spending any time and money in their casino....so I spent it elsewhere.

THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY, I ENJOYED MY STAY WHEN I GO BACK TO VEGAS IM GOING TO BE STAYING THERE AGAIN.

Good a little above average, but over all a good stay. hotel staff was very friendly. i would stay there again any day.

it was nothing like what i saw in internet. the room had wet carpet from window a/c unit. transfer to another room, the a/c window was hardly running, room was not cold. walked to the Golden nugget and got a room for the time in vegas. chcked out from california hotel next morning. which we not spend the night because we at the Golden Nugget hotel. after that we had a great time.

Room was nice and clean but door striker only had one screw that was secured in the door casing. I also got food poisoning symptons and was laid up for a whole day.

No coffee maker or refrig., but room was comfortable and staff friendly and helpful.

Best experience in Las Vegas yet. I've been staying in Las Vegas for over 20 years and usually only stay at the Wynn, the Venetian, and Caesars Palace. My girlfriend and I decided to do a last second trip to Las Vegas and wanted to try something new and see Freemont. I used to have a summer internship with Boyd Gaming years ago and I remembered how nice the staff was at the California so we decided to stay there. Amazing! Blown away how nice the room was for $30!!!! Nicer than the FAB suites at the Flamingo by far. Huge flat screen TV's and the best was the fridge in the room. They had the most delicious Hawaiian food with huge portions and it was so nice to bring back the left overs. The staff was so warm, between the valet, to the front desk, and even the maintenance man who replaced our fridge with a brand new one within 5 minutes of making a call. Location is phenomenal, you are so close to Freemont yet far enough not to hear it at night. Plus the slots are loose. We pretty much would eat and sleep at the California and play at their sister casino Freemont because the slots were phenomenal, plenty of free drinks, and the free Warrant and Skid Row concert was a definite unexpected bonus. Im usually used to 5 Star places and dressing up but I felt so comfortable and at home here. We already want to come back ASAP!!!

Our room was clean and modern, the staff was friendly and responsive to all our needs. The food was delicious. Would stay here again!!

What made this hotel great was not only the amazing price but the friendly staff. The hotel rooms were clean and modern (no big 80's comforters, the hall ways were clean and in good shape (no debri or torn carpet), elevators were clean and tidy (didnt smell) and the overall casino was clean and in good shape. We stopped at Whiskey Petes on our way to Vegas and stayed the night for double of what we payed at the California Hotel and it was horrible (dirty, dirty, run down, falling apart, gross, dirty and did I mention dirty!!!) Great hotle to take the family or eevn for a romantic get-a-way. Very affordable, very close to everything, very safe. I will be back!!!
