Riviera Hotel and Casino

The rooms and decor of The Riviera in Las Vegas were run down and shabby. During our one-day visit, the water was shut off from 11 in the evening until late afternoon the next day. I had to bathe from a bottle of water, and the hotel restaurants were closed. On a good note, the managerial staff was very sympathetic to our complaints and helpfully agreed to extend our checkout time for our inconvenience. Nevertheless, I would never return to this hotel nor recommend it to others.

I had never stayed at the Riveria before but did visit it years before. Our first experience was bad and then became worse. We had to ask three different people how to get to Valet parking. The first man said just drive up around that corner and you can have someone take your car. The second man was sitting behind a desk and just shouted at us that we could not park there and mumbled some directions to Valet. Once we got to Valet we were greeted by some fairly nice people, and gave us some directions to check in. Once we figured out the machine that we checked us in. We just wanted to go to our room. We were bombarded by a woman who asked us if we would like to see a show, we thought it was part of the Riviera, which it was not, It was a come see our property and sit threw a lecture and we will give you some tickets, but not just yet, You give us $40.00 of which you will be refunded when you show up. Then we went down to the Casino and had the hardest time getting a cocktail waitress, so we went to the Bar and paid for our drinks, but we were met by a crabby and rude bartender who said she didn't know what to tell us about the watress situation, once again we went back to playing and we had to ask for a waitress three times, and were told by her that she wasn't our waitress but would find us one. Well about an hour later we finally got ONE drink. The rooms were ok but not spectacular. Wall paper was peeling off the walls and the carpet was smelly and old.

I was not impressed in general with this hotel (it was the conference hotel so I didn't look elsewhere). Somewhat shockingly, our shopping bags disappeared from our room (after housekeeping cleaned the room) and we have been fighting with the hotel for the past several days to get a copy of the police report and to get some sort of compensation. We were told that the hotel is not responsible for lost or stolen items and that there is nothing they can do. Bottom line, stay at your own risk and make sure you either lock anything of value to you in the safe or don't bring it with you on your trip. I will never stay at this hotel again and would strongly advise my friends to avoid it.

We HATED our stay at the Riviera. The bed was the only good part and that's because our bed at home is falling apart.

Rivera was very cheap, money wise but everything else was bad. The rooms were old and had an odor to them. No one knew why the buffet was always closed. No one in the hotel knew what was going on and kept telling us to go somewhere else to ask.

well i come from vegas. i have lived in ct for the last 7 years. now when i go back home to visit i always stay with family or friends. well we got a room becuase we had on having a girls night out and drinking a lot. so to be safe we got a room. we liked the location of this one because it was kinda in the middle. when i checked in the lady was ok not rude but not very friendly. then as i was checking in a few of my friends were walking up to meet me and we would go check out the room and finish getting ready for the night. well one of the other ladies behinde the check in counter yelled very rudly to my friend " YOU CAN NOT SMOKE IN THIS AREA PUT THE CIG. OUT RIGHT NOW OR LEAVE!!!" we got up to the room and it wasnt very clean. but it would do. i mean by the time we would be going to sleep we would be drunk anyways so it was fine for that. but if i were lookin for a place to stay with my family for a vaction... i would not stay here i stayed at the golden nugget the year before and it was much better clean freindlier, and had stuff for all ages!!

Monaco Tower Rooms are ok, bed was nice, bathrooms decent, towels worn, desk-chairs uncomfortable, they charge 10-/day for internet, first night I was in a room behind guest elevators, the motors kept me up all night. Nasty front desk staff, Valet was closed all the time, housekeeping was nice, abc stores are great, affordable foods and very convenient. Got a beter deal through orbits rather than hotel site. Never ever reserve through the "convention site URL" rates are higher than orbits and the hotel site. huge difference in cost...Long check in and check out

i go to vegas all the time i stay at a different hotel everytime this was by far the worst one yet, the maids kept walking in our room despite the do not disturb sign! You couldn't take a shower without the bathtub filling all the way up and to top it off they were constructing a new building right outside our window!!!!

My unsatisfied experience began at checking. I was not listed on the reservation and was asked to call Orbit to have my name added to the reservation which took over two hours for an orbits rep. to fax a document over to the hotel to give them permission ot add my name to the reservation. I was promissed a $25 coupon from orbits rep. ([...]) for my troubles but It was not in my inbox when I got home. Then there was to rude hotel fron desk staff who call me stupid for not understanding how to find my room sicne the hotel had four or five different towers.
